Opportunities for summer jobs for youth via WorkReady Philadelphia were cut in half in 2011 due to reductions in public funding.  A total of 5,336 young people were served, down from over 11,000 in 2010; those that remained on the waiting list last summer outnumbered those served 2 to 1. Predictions for summer 2012 forecast further cuts, which is a creating a crisis of youth opportunity in the city.

Join the Save Summer Jobs campaign to help provide opportunities for Philadelphia youth to earn a paycheck while developing critical skills to prepare them for future success while also investing in tomorrow's workforce.

Here's how you can support the campaign:

  • Hire summer interns to work at your business
  • Support the cost of a young person's work experience at other businesses or organizations
  • Make a personal contribution toward youth slots by credit card or check
If every adult in Philadelphia gave $25, we could provide jobs for about 20,000 youth. Just $5 per adult would allow us to exceed our goal of serving 7,500 youth.
  • Help us get the word out through your business and social networks
